Training provides our workers with the knowledge and skill to work safely. Our training model goes way beyond just classroom sessions. Much of our training occurs where it counts: in the field. We follow a simple mantra of “tell, show, do”. We tell them how to do it safely and why this is the safe way, show them exactly how to do it, then monitor them while they do it. This is followed up by checking in on workers to make sure they continue to do each task safely. Some people say this is managing. To us, a big part of managing is training. To us, training must occur in formal sessions but also must be an ongoing, everyday process.
